Since 2004 we have been making spaces where individuals are free to develop their unique talents. We encourage the creativity of women; those who identify as LGBTQIA+; and people from a variety of economic, ethnic and cultural origins, starting as young as 3 years old.
We believe that those who seek arts and arts education should not face obstacles due to location or cost. Based in Chicago, we work locally and think globally, recognizing that our vision can move through social and artistic networks that defy geographic boundaries.

How can I support Synapse regularly?
One of the best things you can do is to become a monthly donor - it’s quick, easy, and ensures that Synapse can support artists, students, and audiences all year round. Just use the donation form above and choose “monthly” for your donation frequency. Recurring annual gifts can also be scheduled here.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! Synapse is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization, which means that donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. In 2020, new IRS regulations for charitable donations mean that you may be able to deduct up to $300 of donations, even if you don’t itemize your taxes. Can I have my workplace match my donation to Synapse?
Yes! Often this is as simple as filling out a one page form and submitting it to your HR department. If your workplace uses an online giving catalog, such as YourCause/NPOConnect or Fidelity Giving Marketplace, Synapse may already be a registered charity in your catalog. If you have questions about whether your workplace offers donation matching or how to give to Synapse, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help.
Can I give to Synapse through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?
Yes! You can contact your fund advisor or financial institution directly to request that funds be sent to Synapse. If you have a DAF with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon you can use this link from DAF Direct to request funds be sent to Synapse. Please contact email@example.com for help in setting up a DAF donation. If you donate through a DAF, please let us know so we can be sure to send you our thanks!
Can I buy merchandise with the Synapse logo?
Yes! Shop at our Spreadshirt site and you can purchase Synapse Arts t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts and more. Designed by our Director Rachel Damon, everything is super cute!
Can I use an online shopping service like Amazon Smile that gives to Synapse?
Yes! You can donate to Synapse through several different online services. For many of these services, you simply have to select Synapse Arts (or potentially our legal name Synapse Arts Collective Incorporated) as your preferred charity and when you shop through the site. The service will donate a portion of the proceeds from your sale to Synapse. Can I buy things that Synapse needs and have them sent directly to Synapse?
Yes! Synapse has a Wish List through Amazon. The list contains supplies that we need, many of which are for our classes. You can purchase items from the list and Amazon will send them directly to Synapse. You can often find savings for the items on this list with Wikibuy, a free tool to compare prices among various retailers.
